We didn’t feel like driving too far this weekend with it being Labor Day weekend. Actually David didn’t even want to go camping this weekend as I seem to remember, because it’s notoriously a pretty busy camping weekend, and camping with crowds isn’t something we normally love to do. But I did some arm twisting, and we decided to meet at this campground after work on Friday.
I do not know why I’d never camped here before. I really liked this place. Apparently, the trailhead for the Caribou Ridge National Recreation Trail starts at the campground, which is a 5-mile trail and has “two outstanding overlooks” of Lake Coeur d’Alene. We however didn’t hike that trail, although we did make an unsuccessful attempt to mountain bike it. We probably should’ve hiked it instead, and for the life of me, I can’t remember why we didn’t. Instead, we drove to Mineral Ridge Trail, which was only 4 miles away, to hike the popular 3.3 mile hike that also had great views of the lake.
We also biked up a pretty road from the campground until we got tired of biking uphill. It was really fun biking down to the campground after turning around. We did have the misfortune of having extremely noisy camping neighbors, but you have to expect that every once in awhile. Not much to write about, especially since this is now a year and a half later and I don’t remember many of the details, but I did want to include this trip on my blog, since I enjoyed it.
And sorry for the grainy photo. It’s the best one I had.
